How the mobile generation Was Born -
Citrix recently had the honor of hosting a group of luminaries Tech who led the first generation of smartphones and tablets. Going back 20 years to the first SmartPhone, Jerry Merkel tells the story of how he sold the concept to IBM which resulted in the Simon Personal Communicator. He was one of the original units that have made cell phone calls, emails, mobile applications, even fax .. and then talk to slip into a PCMCIA card to add functions as a music player. His case original business even slides shows a music store.

John Sculley describes how Newton requires a new low-power chip that did not exist and consequently led Apple to invest in ARM joint venture that now powers the majority of all mobile devices. It then describes 1993 CES Keynote where he predicted billions of mobile devices are all cellular calls to the speech recognition and gestures. Yet when he was ridiculed about how he " the guy Marketing " was qualified to make such a prediction ... far it looks like he was right ...
.
Jamie Borras a legend Motorola has designed tours for some of the first generation of cell phones and PushToTalk invented (and 42 other patents) refers to the wireless infrastructure was necessary and led LTE today.
.
to move the debate today, Scott Moody founder AuthenTec (which Apple just bought for $ 365 million) talks about the importance of engineering and innovation beyond to what the customer is asking today (and some good reviews for "Sales & marketing pukes" ...). Scott also tells of the ups and downs of a start-up, including its first prototype did not work to go public on the NASDAQ and having children ring the bell.
.
All panelists offered excellent advice, stories and wisdom for entrepreneurs and visionaries who need to go beyond an idea and have the perseverance to perform better than the competition.
.
So what is the next big thing? There seemed to be a consensus that the next big thing had sensors, the internet of things. Beyond simple personal devices, there will be more devices that monitor your Heath, help your daily activity, network with others and the cloud, etc, etc.
.
If you have time it is a great video; for the technological history, innovation and the future.
