In late September, Microsoft announced a change in their support lifecycle for Windows operating system Server 08. this change has added 18 months to mainstream support for Windows Server 08, moving the end of mainstream support date of July 9, 2013 to January 13, 2015. as a result of this change in Windows Server 08, Citrix also adjusted the end of life for XenApp 5 for Windows Server 08 for 18 months, to January 13, 2015. This change was made to XenApp 5 for Windows Server 08 because we understand many customers take full advantage of the Microsoft platform during the main period Microsoft support. Therefore, we want to ensure that customers with XenApp 5 on Windows Server 08 are also able to leverage their investment in XenApp 5 during the mainstream support period. The change was implemented mid-October and our website was updated the following week, and this change has no effect on the steps of the life cycle of other XenApp versions.
A number of customers recently contacted me about finding the change of date of the life cycle for XenApp 5 for Windows Server 08 from the product page of the Citrix lifecycle. So I hope this blog will help get the news to other customers who may not be aware of the shift.
