The Web load balancing and acceleration with NetScaler 10 -

As you already know, we recently launched the Cloud Platform Network's most advanced " NetScaler 10 ". This unique product is loaded with over 100 new world class functionality.

Today I want to spend a few minutes to familiarize yourself with some of the major improvements Web load balancing and acceleration that we have integrated into NetScaler 10. My hope is that you get to play / try these features before arriving at Synergy so you can ask pertinent questions and get clarification of our top-notch engineering staff.

main load balancing features and Web acceleration NetScaler 10:

DBS Auto-scaling ServiceGroup

NetScaler now supports 10 support auto-scaling based DBS for the service group. With AutoScale (-autoScale YES), all IP addresses in the DNS response received will be used to fill Servicegroup member based on reachability of the server. You can dynamically reduce or enlarge the members of the service group based on DNS responses.

For more information, see "Automatic Configuration area Based Service Group Scaling" in the "Load Balancing" chapter of Citrix NetScaler Traffic Management Guide.

custom persistence based chain server-id

with the new release, NetScaler string id on the basis of having a meaning / readable (string based) server ids. the string can be up to 47 characters and contain alphanumeric characters and dashes.

for more information, see "custom server ID Persistence" in the "Load Balancing" chapter of Citrix NetScaler traffic management Guide.

persistence support rule for TCP / SSL_TCP

NetScaler 10 enables administrators to define persistence for TCP / SSL_TCP protocol based on TCP / data IP and layer 2 information. The user can define based persistence:

CLIENT.TCP.PAYLOAD (100) .BEFORE_STR ( "CCC") AFTER_STR ( "aaa") MAC / VLAN / Interface / Port Port Src / Dest

[

for more information on the rule on the basis of persistence, see "Configuring persistence-based User-Defined Rules" in the "Load Balancing" chapter of Citrix NetScaler Traffic management Guide.

support DNS TXT RR

NetScaler DNS implementation will now support the DNS TXT record types. [add dns txtRec n1.com ...]. the the most common use of TXT records is stored SPF records that allow mail servers to implement SPF support (sender Policy Framework). SPF is used to prevent spam / email spoofing of the sender with mail domains specify which server / her mail can be sent from if e-mail from their domain.

For more information, see "Create TXT records for holding descriptive text" in the "Domain Name System chapter" Citrix NetScaler Traffic Management Guide.

favorite backup list for Static close

One can now specify a list of favorite GSLB backup locations when the primary location service is LOW. the required behavior can be obtained by configuring DNS appropriate policies and action.

For more information, see "Overriding static behavior by Proximity Configuration favorite locations" in the "Load Balancing Global Server" chapter of Citrix traffic management NetScaler Guide.

rewrite NXDOMAIN response configured with IP

NetScaler 10 enables you to rewrite a NXDOMAIN response. If NetScaler is DNS proxy mode and backend returns NXDOMAIN response, the device can be configured to return an IP address set by the user (s).

Telcos and ISPs in particular can take advantage of this feature to generate additional revenue. For example, if a user type citriz.com and it turns out that this does not resolve in DNS, ISP does not return an error to the user's browser, but rather return this page as a advertising and a link to their own search engine, etc.

For more information on configuring an action of DNS, configuring a DNS policy, and the binding of a DNS policy, see "Configuring DNS actions" "Configuring DNS strategies" and "DNS policies Binding," respectively, in the "Load global Server Balancing" chapter of Citrix NetScaler Traffic management Guide.

Vserver slow start level fine adjustment

You can configure the NetScaler appliance to gradually increase the load on a service (the number of requests that the service receives per second) immediately after the service is to be added to a configuration of load balancing or a lower status change up. You can either manually increase the load with load values and ranges of your choice (slow start manual) or set the device to increase the load a specified interval (automatic slow start) until the service receives as many applications than other services configuration.

For more information, see "Stepping gradually the load on a new service withVirtual Server Level Slow Start" in the "Load Balancing" chapter of the Guide to traffic management Citrix NetScaler.

SurgeQ Flush without having to disable the service.

with the new release, NetScaler helps empty the SurgeQ without affecting transaction active client.

flush surgeQ
: to flush SurgeQ for all service entities on NS
flush surgeQueue -name [vserver_name/service_name/servicegr_name]
: to Bleed SurgeQ by entity

for more information see chapter "protection against overvoltage" Citrix NetScaler Application security Guide.

load Firewall balance supporting multi vserver

setup

in charge balancing firewall in which a set of firewall is configured on both sides (upstream and downstream) of the NetScaler appliance, if the traffic is coming if a set of firewall (for example, upstream), you can now load balancing on the other set of firewalls (eg, downstream)
parameter set lb -vServerSpecificMac oN. This setting is disabled by default.

SIP Expression Support

The language of expressions NetScaler now has a number of new expressions for Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) connections. These terms are intended to be used in the policies of any supported protocol which operates on a request / response, such as the firewall application, content switching, rate limiting, and voice mail policies . The header format used by the SIP is similar to that used by the HTTP protocol, so many new expressions look and function like their HTTP like. The NetScaler operating system currently only supports SIP over UDP, so that the new phrases are in accordance with that.

For more information, see the Policy Configuration Guide and Citrix NetScaler reference.

multi byte pad supporting portion

Integral cache can now be used in a part of the contents of the cache response to the range of applications 'multipart bytes. Therefore, you can now specify multiple content beaches to be served. For example, you can specify that in 1024 bytes of content, the content of 50-100 and 450-700 bytes bytes to be used in an application.

If you have questions or need to follow more details on feature or use case, I strongly encourage that you use the comment field to reach me. I would be happy to talk (brag!) On the new features.

Thank you and we look forward to our next blog on "What's new in NetScaler 10 under Security '!
