Citrix Technology Short # 2 -

Similar to my commencement "short", here are some things happening in my Citrix world that I think are worth sharing with the community :

  • I still e-mail from Shawn Bass waiting explain why is 6 seconds acceptable amount of reaction time. 😉
  • Speaking of Shawn, Helge Klein and Aaron Parker teamed to write a beautiful 5-part series on the folder redirection (and how it impacts UX and "breaks" things). You know what I think they proved? a file server pegging is bad, sucks SMB 1.x and redirect AppData is actually a fantastic way to reduce login times.
  • Apparently I can not hype the new PVS wC Option enough (as I still see so many customers buying extremely expensive all flash arrays for seemingly no reason!). Do you want to see it in action? Check out Dan Feller video here. Do not believe us at Citrix? Check out an independent study of ESG performed.
  • still think the new option wC wC vs Legacy Options a ton requires additional storage? Not if you correct your memory buffer and defrag size. Myth broken!
  • Do you miss Summit? While I can not comment on anything I can on some of the things we comment publicly or speak mentioned in press releases. More specifically, we have a mouse prototype for use with iOS created (and Brian likes it), we announced WorkspacePOD, we delivered XS 6.5, which has a 64-bit control domain and memory-based read cache, and we announced a tonne upcoming features and VPs (especially Linux VDA, Framehawk integration and session recording is coming back!).
  • I thought Dane Young a great job de-mystifies what WorkspacePOD is "inside" really did.
  • Have you missed our earnings call last week? I was thinking of the things was interesting Märkt statement about VDI in a Box (VIAB) and as we are in a different direction with immediate effect in motion. , Some interesting external comment from Bas here
  • We (somewhat quietly) made three acquisitions in the last 3 months - it started with Solid instance in November, then Octoblu in December and now Sanbolic last month. VMware fired back cloud volumes in August and Immidio this week, beef up their EUC product line.
  • Speaking of VMware, they announced vSphere 6 grab this week. Some highlights from my point of view - they now support 64 hosts in a cluster, finally have vgpu support VVOLs look promising and VSAN got a face-lift. Cormac has a great contribution to VSAN6 if you want details.
  • Maybe "old" news, but maybe not ... one of the biggest challenges we have in the area facing down on the Mobility front is due to the fact that Apple no longer allows distribution profiles with wildcard App IDs. To access the new better XenMobile App Signing Tool and re-wrap these applications with explicit IDs and profiles. to bring
  • storefront adoption continues, and we are now leading with him almost everywhere. And one of the new features that I love (and we have a lot lately for the customers of implementation) optimal routing gateway. If you have not heard of it, it's worth.

Hope this helps.

Prost, Nick
