Citrix Director 7.6 Deep Dive Part 6: Better performance, simpler workflows -

We have in many respects Director improved, not only with additional features, but also to improve performance and skills. We have the power of the user search improves, in addition to looking for the possibility for machines and endpoints. Easing workflow of the filter with respect to the various details views, drill-down capability into the trends tables details about each of the trend reported helps the administrator time to reduce resolution, ultimately improving customer satisfaction.

search users, endpoints and machines

Advanced search functions

to the new, improved search, you can not only for the users search on your site connected, but also for machines and looking endpoints. The machines include desktops and workers, which are used by the users and the endpoints include client devices. Locate the endpoints with is particularly useful for anonymous (unauthenticated) users. In addition, the user interface has been updated and provides a better user experience.

Improved search

Imagine a Help Desk Admin receives a call from a nurse (Consumer) in the hospital. In the healthcare industry Thin Clients are predominantly used. Many times the end user who does not know with the problem, the username of the session because they are not required to log in as the session "authenticated" is. Instead, the user can use the client endpoint name that accesses the end user (physical device). Many times has documented a sticker fixed to the thin client or on the screen of the endpoint name. When the nurse has a problem, they can now shown the client endpoint name on the label and the Help Desk enter Admin is able to search for that name and returned the client session display to begin Details for troubleshooting and the problem quickly to solve.

Engine Search is a handy way to search for a specific machine name and resolve issues related to certain equipment related. For example, XenApp users complain about the slowness of their hosted application. Let us say that the hosted application on the server "XAWorkerA" is published. The administrator can now select the machine for the search and enter "XAWorkerA". You will see returns the device data and are in a position that the machine to fix.

grouping machines and Endpoints

Director asks the broker asked when to look for machines or endpoints. In a large environment, the search response may be slow, since it enumerates all machines / endpoints. To improve performance, we have the ability to "group" made machinery / Endpoints available. This is done by the Director Config Tool performed, restricting the search within a defined group. How do you group items? All you need to do is the director Config Tool, select / create site groups, enter the IP and a name and run your done! Once the configuration is complete, the "Select a group" option will be available as shown below.

Session Chooser (Switcher)

Director provides the Help Desk admin with the ability to see information in real-time, user session information, equipment details and endpoint session information. The session selection offers the possibility to select all sessions (separated / connected sessions) or user equipment / endpoints that he / she is assigned. After the Help Desk administrator initiates the search for a user of the enhanced search box, the Session Chooser Panel to return information about the machines and applications, including session state, which were provided to the user. You can also "switch" between different sessions with ease using the session Switcher through the session decide you must resolve.

improved performance in the Session Chooser

, the power of search was the Director 7.6 strong improved. Earlier, when there were two or more sites, the search results for different machines and endpoints were received only after a response from all sites were sent back. But now, as soon as an answer, the results are received from a store display. The responses from the other sites are appended on the result in real time. This helps to improve in the search as well as to improve the overall admin experience.

The improvement of the filter

Improved Navigation

Imagine an IT administrator, which filters through tons of data in Director in the filter view. He is in a meeting or a machine-specific data, which is odd and requires further investigation. In Director 7.6, which is all he needs to do, just select the hyperlink that will take him show on the specific details directly. Is not that a simple workflow, avoid confusion?

Associated users take for this particular user details display.

endpoint name takes you to the end view showing the session running on that endpoint.

Machine name takes you to that particular machine details.

New Connection Type field added

"Connection Type" is a new column in the filter was added with respect to the Sessions Table. It indicates whether the connection or non-HDX HDX compound (RDP or Console). This is very helpful when trying to figure out why there is latency in a meeting. If it is a non-HDX connection the user is to learn, tied with high latency and dissatisfaction. He would not recognize that it is a non-HDX-channel, causing the problem, and it could be for XenDesktop blame. This field helps you analyze and help users with such problems.

As you can see, we did make too many improvements to the help desk to reduce the time of dissolution and thus to increase customer satisfaction. Look for additional improvements and features as we continue to develop Director.
