We hear you, the Windows VPN users. You have not had a monumental update since October (yuck) and you're tired of all the new bells and whistles that go to all other operating systems, but yours. Well wait, release this app is for you! Our development team here at IPVanish worked hard to provide enhanced functionality to our Windows VPN, and we are pleased to share the news!
kill
The kill switch function as expected since its first appearance in our OS X app, automatically stop (or kill ) all network activity if your connection VPN is lost. Just as easily, your network connection can be reactivated from the IPVanish application. In other words, our kill switch establishes a tight Internet connection to the air, ensuring your network is as secure as possible at all times. This new feature can be enabled right from the Dashboard in the " Settings " tab.
IPv6 protection against leakage
This new feature helps prevent IPv6 addresses to escape by forcing Internet traffic on IPv4.
So what does this mean in simple terms? Well, IPv4 and IPv6 are two types of IP addresses. Everyone connected to the Internet today is an IPv4 address, but ultimately, we will miss this kind of IP addresses; IPv6 is the next replacement. As the IPv4 to IPv6 deployment progresses, some Internet service providers and URLs have already been provisioned IPv6 addresses. And when you download an ad, or image file from an IPv6 URL, there is a risk that the IPv6 traffic could be disclosed to third parties.
Fortunately, this new protection feature against IPv6 leaks deny Windows' preference for IPv6 and force traffic over IPv4. To enable this new feature on the Windows VPN IPVanish software, click " Enable IPv6 leak prevention "" Settings "tab under the dashboard >.
LAN blocking
a brand new feature for IPVanish (and one of our competitors are default) is the LAN. When blocking is enabled, no device on the local network (LAN) can communicate with a user device. in addition to this, the lock prevents LAN also outbound traffic from a user to go to the local network.
high contrast mode
This is a minor bug fix for our visually driven users. Previously, if someone one was to put Windows in high contrast mode or change the theme, the boxes have disappeared completely. They just turned the same color as their background and were almost invisible to the human eye. Now check boxes work properly! So go on ahead and play with the brightness contrast ratio all you want.
