How Citrix Receiver pass-through authentication for storefront or web interface (Public Sector Edition) -

Earlier this year I had to configure the following conversation:

customer: Henry, how can we get rid of the pen calls when in the virtual desktop application

Me: we need to configure the receiver for passthrough and ...

customer (interrupting): Yes, that is what I want. That's it !!!

Me: Well, there are some limitations ...

You see, I knew we could configure pass through but was the question of how to meet this requirement with a Common Access card involved (CAC - Government jargon for Smart Card in the department of defense) and a locked Windows 7 image. That is where the journey began. Please note that happened aforementioned conversation while I spot to do with the customer a NetScaler Gateway Proof of Concept was and considering that I while had enough time to eat out, I accepted the challenge ,

So at the time there was no clear support article that explains how to do that with 2.5 storefront, and the latest version of the receiver. There were a few blogs and older Citrix support article are helped, but I had to piece together some concepts to get it to work. Citrix Director 7.6 Deep Dive Part 1: License Monitoring -

With Director 7.6, we really wanted to make sure that users know when they are going to be affected by a license problem. To fix this, license alerts from the license server is now being made available in the dashboard view in Director 7.6. This new feature provides a better insight into the licensing status of XenApp / XenDesktop so administrators aware of impending current license conditions, which may affect the functionality of the product. Licensing error in an environment can cause major failures or degraded service for customers and in earlier versions of XenApp / XenDesktop, it is difficult to recognize when licensing issues your site affect or influence over user connections.

Subsequent grace

In previous versions of XenApp and XenDesktop, if the user of licenses expire they receive session rejections on the license policy engine. To address this limitation, we have a new concept called Supplemental Grace Period (SWP). During the Supplemental grace period, the license will grant PolicyEngine unlimited connections, a time window has to purchase additional licenses. SGP will be granted on the consumption of licenses to allow you to add an additional 15-day window for fixing the issue. After the SGP regular license limits are enforced.

Director dashboard view

licensing status is provided this feature with two plates on dashboard view under a new tab available named. Licensing Status tab display identified the conditions by the license system (license server and controller). The number shown in the Licensing tab is the total number of warnings / alarms by the license server and each controller recognized

License Server Alerts Panel -. This shows status updates that are generated directly from the license server. Warnings / alarms are activated when triggered by the server. Alert messages include: Incomplete configuration, compatibility with the Delivery Controller and the activation of SGP. In addition, administrators are provided with recommended actions License Server to solve problems.

2. Delivery Controller Status Panel -Displays license server for each controller connection status. If Citrix Universal Print Server to test identification problematic printer driver in Citrix UPS Installation - , which we in the test team look deeply, how well the product works when we perform: Print Driver Isolation compressive load tests on the entire environment when real third-party printer drivers are installed on a large scale and stressed. One of the things we have with Citrix UPS found on the print server, print insulation host and spoolsv processes have crashed.

Why does this happen?

Where are these crashes occur? For starters, we try here at Citrix always to narrow it and to find the cause of the problem. Optimization of Citrix Receiver for pre-launch and Single Sign-On -

This building, I have to say that I got a little frustrated with the receiver and the work that the best user experience makes it necessary to give so that things like session pre-launch and single sign-on (pass-through authentication) a very nice experience for all users.
