Marriott Hotels came under fire recently after some of their most shady marketing tactics were exposed. As users connected to their WiFi network, they have been adding lines of code that would enable them to serve ads to you, which is an additional source of revenue for the hotel. Although it is common for some Internet service providers (ISPs), it is rare from a hotel.
Good news is that they have stopped for the moment. After the media got a hold of the story, Marriott quickly responded and gave up the practice. Yet they themselves have earned a bad PR.
