Based on LVM- storage (eg iSCSI, FC, local LVM) XenServer default creates a logical volume called "MGT". This is created for future use to automatically store the VM metadata on the storage system. However, it is not actively used today. You can see this volume by issuing "lvscan" as command should show something like:
ACTIVE '/ dev / VG_XenStorage-ac2d06f2-0644-0ea2-0624-f35b26389d8c / MGT [4.00 MB] inherit
It may happen that you are not able to re-attach a storage repository in special circumstances. The reason could be that the volume of MGT has inconsistent data. If that is the case, you can try renaming the volume of MGT to force re-created automatically. This can be done by
lvrename / dev / VG_XenStorage-ac2d06f2-0644-0ea2-0624-f35b26389d8c / MGT / dev / VG_XenStorage-ac2d06f2-0644-0ea2-0624-f35b26389d8c / MGT-backup
if MGT inconsistency was responsible for not being able to attach a RS, then it should work again.
MGT does not contain data that is essential for the production of virtual machines today. However be aware that you run commands on own risk above. If you are in doubt concerning Production, please contact technical support.
