Over the past week, I 'Steampunking' some foam dart guns with my daughter
We have some 
toy guns into pieces, painted all exterior parts, then put them carefully back together. The renovations should have been easy, but it was rarely that. Each time the device fails, we could not see why, from without opening it all up and back (with reference photos thankfully). Now they are do work, but only after much repetition.
It would have been much easier if we had to be able to see what was going wrong.
