Google reported they received a number "alarming" removal requests from government agencies since 2011. over 1,000 applications have come in the last six months of 2011 alone, and they met about half of them. It seems that the idea of freedom of expression on the Internet is attacked on all fronts. Many of withdrawal requests refer to video content on YouTube such as videos of arrests, violence during the demonstrations, and more. Most requests are legitimate, and include hate speech or other content that should be taken down to comply with the law. What is "alarming" is that many of these requests come from Western governments, and they are critical for content that just the government. So they will not take anything, Google to comply with 60% of applications.
