Citrix XenDesktop 7.6 includes the release of a new version of the Citrix Universal Print Server, UPS 7.6 !; with this version of our test results showed a very significant improvements in the software, including:
- stability at a constant load of about 50 jobs per minute
- Excellent recovery from periods of stress / (Open the print dialog is about 6 times faster) and better performance over WAN links
- Increased protection against faulty printer driver overload
- protocol efficiency optimizations (reduced chattiness) resulting in a better user experience, UPS is including used in conjunction with the printer driver isolation
Better documentation
to accompany this release of UPS, we also have the documentation in Citrix XenDesktop manual with a new revised section on the printing of our consulting team improved based on their field experience. Although in the XenDesktop "manual is this Council also relevant for those with UPS for XenApp pressure. I would recommend Ed Duncan great blog Read the solutions available, overlooking, here for a great insight into what can UPS do, and . instructions for documentation available
Citrix does printing solutions
Yes, and now very good Citrix spent many years companies to develop printing technologies;?! Cloud SaaS common, yet most companies have easy core functionality ., while providing always hotfix UPS 7.1.100 (Q1 2014) dealt with a number of stability and scalability problems:

UPS 7.6, this drive for quality has continued and we recommend those to 7.6 Update with UPS 7.1.100 also UPS for further improvements.
print files can inflate and place a very high load range. Transferring our expertise in compression techniques from our other products and HDX has resulted in some nice compression technology between the customer and the UPS, which means that this is really a WAN suitable solution.
The Future
UPS 7.6 is to ensure revision of the platform on the core architectures for robustness and scale, is future-proof. Thus, the platform will provide ongoing, on which we can deploy new features and support for newer versions of Windows Server. We have a lot of this development cycle have to change our development tools, automating tests and stress tests. I've blogged about why I'm particularly looking forward to the product manager for this product.
One of our main priorities can ensure printer driver error was identified by our own testing tools. Printer drivers can be wrapped in rather odd fashion while protecting our infrastructure runs out and faulty drivers has been an important focus. I hope that we will be able to our partner suppliers and customers to open our in-house tools also, so that they can identify faulty drivers in future easily and isolate.
I am also roadmap for new server operating system support, and new printing features planning.
UPS is expensive? to get
It's free! Citrix is the only virtualization providers to provide such a comprehensive solution available and within the scope of our core product. So do not deal with third-party support additional licensing costs! We have the strengths of technologies was the analysis and Mayank provides an excellent overview, here's where you can get ideas on how printing solutions, quality, bandwidth and capacity planning.
to assess and compare these improvements are available for XenDesktop 5.6, 7.x and XenApp 6.5 users?
Yes, they are! The new components of the UPS 7.6 is currently the main XenDesktop / XenApp 7.6 download included. In retrospect, this is not to look for new components (UPSClient and UPD) and the need for the entire download to download is simply uncomfortable the most convenient place for XenApp customers. We work these components in a handy format in the future
Update (27 / Nov / 2014) to repackage. The components are now independent for download (login Downloads with Citrite ID):

XenApp 6.5 Upgrade Details
There is a limitation for installation on XenApp 6.5 with a version of the driver conflict due in connection with HRP004 (hotfix rollup pack 4 in CTX138366 described). We revise processes such nonconformity to ensure not in the future occurs. And we want to solve this with a later HRP (so if you're reading this, if HRP005 or is higher available, this information is not relevant and should not HRP be applied other than 004 without explicit advice from Citrix to do this) ,
- The recommended order of installation is: HRP004 first, followed by UPS 7.6
- driver version mismatch will result in a dialog box asking if you want to install an older version of the driver, if you install UPS7.6 that you should agree with
- do dialog interrupt automatically install
- We are on an article working order for the user, for detailing who unattended a WA / script installation is required (if you need please Citrix Support Team, presses). Update (November 3, 2014): A tool to avoid this problem is now available, see http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX0268
HTML5 and Chrome receiver Print!
, our goal is the widest range of printing options for our XenDesktop and XenApp users must continue so that they use the widest range of end-points and to enable people to work where they want and how. Matched to the XenDesktop 7.6 release, we published new receiver for HTML5 and Chrome, the PDF support local. This is a smart feature where when you open a Word document on your client, you can print in our new Citrix PDF driver, this then the document sent to the server and the PDF will be returned to the endpoint via ICA sent and on the PDF viewer of choice as open CutePDF, from where you can print your printer of choice. It is a really flexible generic solution that avoids the need to install a local driver to end clients and maintain. You can read about the HTML5 receiver printing functionality, here and on the Chrome receiver and its support for the Google Cloud Print, here. Thomas Berger covers some of the security and ease of use benefits associated with these printing solutions, based on competitive solutions, in this great overview.
