Smartphone App will track Facebook User Location
social networking giant, Facebook Inc. (FB) is currently developing a smartphone application that more tracks the location of users. With over one billion users, Facebook is adding a mobile application to monetize the growing number using handheld devices.
The application is scheduled for mid-March and is designed to help users find friends and nearby events. But the application also enable Facebook to sell ads based on the user's location and habits and raises concern among defenders of privacy and consumers on how Facebook handles personal information.
As you have probably noticed when posting on Facebook, your site is already being recorded when you post status updates, check-ins and photos from your phone . The new Facebook application would take a step further by tracking where you are, even if the program is new and your phone is not used
As noted in a report from Bloomberg :. Facebook data use policy tells users that the company can use location information "for you and your friends about people or events nearby, or offer deals to you that you might be interested in say." the company said it may also collect data "to serve you ads that might be more relevant."
"When we receive your GPS location, we put together with other location information that we have about you (like your current city), "bed of data use policy" But we will keep until it is more useful to provide you services, like keeping the coordinates of your last GPS to send you relevant notifications. "
