People need control using Personal Info Online Survey Says Microsoft
According an article published today on www-security.org .net, Microsoft released a series of short videos to help people manage their online privacy. They also released data sharing consumer perceptions of how their information is shared online.
The perception, based on a Microsoft survey gave 1,000 American adults is that people feel they have little or no control over how their data can be collected by companies online. Consumers are also looking for trusted sources to help them make better choices about their online privacy
Highlights Research Highlights are :.
- 45% said they feel they have little or no control over the personal information companies gather about them while they are online searching on the Web or games
- 4 in 10 said they "mostly" understand how to protect their online privacy
- 39% of people said they turn to friends and the family as their main source of information on privacy
- 32% said they are attentive to the privacy of corporate reputation when choosing sites to visit or services to use
Chief privacy officer at Microsoft said, "as the online activities have become a valuable part of daily life, privacy is extremely important."
