Installing XenServer 6.0.2 on IBM HS23 or x240 -

Both servers come with an integrated NIC Emulex 10Gb Ethernet as the primary device, which certainly has its advantages based be3 but requires also special attention during installation of any version of XenServer older than 6.1.0. With XenServer 6.0.2, Citrix has released a handful of drivers disks Emulex products by providing support to these adapters.

Installing XenServer

Installing XenServer hotfixes

The second caveat with these servers has to do with the update through the latest patches. At the writing of this post there are nine public patches available for XenServer 6.0.2 and three specific versions of the last disc of the Emulex driver be2net / lpfc. According to the patch you happen to be running, or whether to run, determines the driver disk is to be loaded and when. 1. Install the patch by selecting the option to manually restart the server after installation is complete. Do not restart the server at this time.
