Today, Citrix announced the acquisition of Virtual Computer, who joined forces with us to build the best client virtualization solution the industry
This is an exciting time for us. By adding the Virtual Computer team to the existing XenClient team we brought together two best customer engineering teams hypervisor world. We are also combining the elegance of a system designed to manage the laptop lifecycle with the power of desktop virtualization and cloud Citrix portfolio. So that will be a great combination of engineers, architects and products.
Most of the time, however, this event is to find ways to go faster for you, our customers.
Virtual Computer and Citrix shared a vision of how client virtualization could simplify the way it manages and secures laptops in the company. We'd both been building technologies and solutions that have a stake in the massive customers and initial success, and we both knew that to succeed our customers and partners we wanted to go faster.
Our customers demand a more scalable centralized management with single scale enterprise deployment capabilities, policy controls and advanced security, and automatic backup and recovery. This acquisition helps us deliver it faster.
They also call for greater integration between XenDesktop and XenClient, and the addition of the Virtual Computer team will accelerate our work there, too.
In combining the best of XenClient and Virtual Computer NxTop, we announced the new XenClient Enterprise edition to Synergy. It will be interesting to see our customers take advantage of these new capabilities to deliver virtual desktops to 100% of their users. To start, here are some things to do now:

Citrix has built an incredible track record of adding teams like Virtual computer in the family - the teams that match the culture that share a vision, and the stewards quickly become Citrix mission. This can only happen when we spend a lot of effort to make sure we add the right team of people.
Having learned about leadership and many members of the Virtual Computer good team, I could not be more excited to join the team at Citrix. It'll be great to see what we can do as a team.
