During this Citrix Summit this year we published Citrix Cloud Platform 4.5 (supported by Apache CloudStack). Citrix Cloud Platform (CCP) has long been regarded by many as the most mature and robust option has announced an Infrastructure as a Service IaaS cloud for construction. This list of organizations that can help to secure this claim (see chart below). Version 4.5 takes the carrier-grade characteristics of an already great platform and makes it up to 11!
really show Big names like Disney and Autodesk, as best of breed companies who choose this technology. That being said, perhaps most say something about the type of customer, decide the CCP, as many as telecommunication companies (telcos) and service providers (SPs) are categorized.
CCP has the heart of running public clouds for companies such as KDDI, Datapipe, NTT, BT and KT for years. During this time, the team learned a tremendous amount about what is needed really to operate a cloud on a large scale with stringent availability requirements.
Many of these findings came together in spring 2014, when we started the CCP 4.5 project. When planning for 4.5, we decided to attack them on a number of fronts:
- depth analysis of issues - we checked feedback we of service providers in the had reported last 12 months and targeted specific remedies for the main
- improved upgrade - reduced We improve and simplify the upgrade process for from one version to another move, and on the way the upgrade time for the Virtual router by an order of magnitude. This is crucial for an operating environment with real availability requirements
- Assuming static code analysis -. We have to ferret it coding practices that could lead latent error
- We enacted new code coverage tool areas of code to mark the test is not good, so we could target additional tests there
- Suppose stringent code review process - we put this measure in place that new code to ensure was always checked by several developers
- Improved automated testing - we made a massive increase in the number of automated test cases that we run every night
- Improved patch process - we have also overhauled and our patch release process streamlined to help us, the latest updates synchronized to the customer as soon as possible
- Releases receive - We released CCP 4.5 and XenServer 6.5 on the same day - support each other with both products. This means that customers can use one of the latest hypervisor with the latest IaaS day
All of these factors came together to ensure that CCP 4.5 is the best version we've ever done and that it is the best possible choice for customers, the business-critical, carrier-grade cloud infrastructure to run. We are in 2015 with more releases following are the build on that to ensure that CCP is the best choice.
