A comment I heard repeatedly, is that while the new X1 UI is great, users are accessing it via this NetScaler- must access gateway. So, the question is, can we please again brand that also
The short answer is yes - that on the list of active work very much. However, it is not part of the tech preview. So, in this blog I will have a quick and dirty way to move NetScaler to explain in the X1 era.
What we will do in this blog, is the login screen NetScaler rebranding with some more X1 ish. This is not a complete reskin - but just enough to make the UX seamlessly. Here is what we will achieve ". Theme"
approach
We will use a feature in NetScaler has to support NetScaler currently two built in topics' Standard 'and' Green Bubbles "mentioned. in addition, there is support for a third 'custom' theme. at first I saw a unique design to offer. But. it turns out, is both version specific to the" dot "release of NetScaler, and is also a little to powerful. vertun own theme can break the admin UI.
for simplicity and breadth of support, I'll existing" green bubble "theme with a new X1 a style, easy to replace. make that change is easier, and so has the advantage that a file with all 10.x NetScalers work
I have already created a topic for NetScaler 10 here (located here :. https: // citrix.sharefile.com/d-s0a446bdb94c46b1b) and everything you need to do to install it. [Note link updated 26th May]
Upload the Theme
The first step is to download the theme on the NetScaler box. To do this I'm using WinSCP (http://winscp.net/). For instructions I am with NetScaler 10.5, but this should work with any 10.x version.
Use Win SCP be to NetScaler log. Use the IP address that you normally use for the Admin Console and the Admin credentials. (Default values are 'nsroot' and 'nsroot' - obviously on a production system you have changed it )
Navigating the local machine (left) and NetScaler (right), until you see your local copy of the new thread to the left, and the NetScaler copy on the right side. (Note these have the same name)
, the directory is called on NetScaler as a reference is / var / NetScaler / gui / themes
now I'm going to save (just in case) on the existing NetScaler file by "receivertheme.tar.gz" as "original receivertheme.tar.gz 'rename. These windows this right click on the file in the right hand.
finally draw the new 'receivertheme.tar.gz' from left to right and choose "Copy Here '.
You should now have this: ..
Finally, you need to configure NetScaler that this new theme to use
First Login Admin console
Now open the "NetScaler Gateway" menu, click on "Global settings" and then "Change Global settings"
now 'click client Experience' and (scroll down) and choose "green bubble" as "Ui topic '.
Finally, hit "OK" at the bottom of the page.
should logon UI for the end user Refreshing now show the new UI.
A final step, if all goes well, to the previous page the Admin console back and press 'Save'. Otherwise it will all disappear at the next reboot. (Similarly, when it has gone wrong, select "Reset" to delete and restart)
This is all that is needed - but for those who want to dig deeper, we must create documentation issues here:
http://support.citrix.com/proddocs/topic/netscaler-gateway-105/ng-connect-custom-theme-page-tsk.html
What is not mentioned (clearly) is that you closest to where you want to load the desired user interface before this adjustment create file (I did this using "green" receiver topic). Then take the , make file from box WinSCP changes and re-upload.
For those who want to follow this path, the changes that I have are
made small- I have a new background image media x1_bg.jpg
- I tweaked the main page (index.html) to take with this background as a variable image by a single line after the day addition of
- I the CSS (ctxs.mainstyle.css) edited the old image behind the new store to avoid
- I removed the background-image line as 'body' (line 14 in my copy)
- I have the following line in its place background-color: # 3A3E4A;
that's it for this article. For a future blog post, I'm looking for suggestions - one up on my list showing how to use the APIs that I have introduced (and a few more) approvals workflow within X1 allow. If there are another topic you want to cover to see me, please let me know in the comment section below, or on the discussion groups.
