Out and Fired Up! Microsoft TechEd 2012 in Orlando is in turmoil following a keynote featuring data and modern applications centers with Windows Server 2012 and System Center 2012. I think the most interesting takeaway was far Satya Nadella, president of the Server and Tools division at Microsoft, which launched off the case to discuss and demonstrate how Microsoft raises the bar for managing data centers to create more scalable environments, flexible and automated offering unprecedented performance. In addition, Satya stressed the importance of enterprise applications with the need to produce modern applications that are personal, social and intelligent.
The participants are excited about the potential and the Citrix booth is invaded by customers wanting to know how Citrix embrace and extend this new Windows platform to help them develop and enhance their desktop delivery environments applications. As always, we have some fantastic demos at the booth this year, including our newly released software NetScaler 10 networking [www.citrix.com/NetScaler] to accelerate and consolidate environments, APPDNA application migration tools recently acquired [www.citrix.com/appdna] and of course XenDesktop, featuring our integration with System Center 2012 with the Com-Trade partner. [www.citrix.com/xendesktop].
Conversations in the cabin are different! Customers who have deployed Citrix virtualization solutions are now realizing that if they add NetScaler in the mixture, they can increase the performance and scale of their data center. Those who have yet to deploy are concerned compatibilitys application, which leads to a conversation about how AppDNA can help them prepare for both Windows 7 and
Windows 8. The wide variety of demonstration devices in the stand attracted a lot of attention as iT and users look to simplify their personal access policies with fewer and more powerful devices.
Sessions focused on VDI and Remote Desktop Services all have been standing only as the desktop virtualization space is clearly in the minds of everyone as a higher workload for the new platform Server 2012 .
Congratulations to Microsoft on another great release. We look forward to 20 years of TechEd excitement and with Microsoft!
