With only days to go before Citrix Synergy, energy and excitement around the big event is seriously overheating. I am delighted the incredible array of special guests and entertainment that will be kicked up a notch in San Francisco next week. It will be a meeting of some of the best minds in our industry, talking about cloud computing and mobile workstyles - with lots of fun sprinkled in, of course! Let me give you a taste of what is to come.
Synergy officially begins Wednesday, May 9 keynote with Citrix CEO Mark Templeton, in which it will provide a provocative look at the major technology and social forces driving business innovation today and in the future. As Mark described, enterprise IT organizations are at the intersection of several dilemmas: control versus freedom; the legacy of distributed computing based on the flexibility of cloud services; and a workforce of tech-savvy requiring the power and simplicity of the devices and social applications they use at home into the workplace. The combined forces of consumerization and industrialization are constantly changing IT - and Mark will offer lessons and examples of companies that take advantage of the transition to the era of the cloud. In addition, Mark will unveil the latest Citrix product news and insights and technology demonstrations, which I find to be one of the most exciting aspects of Synergy!
Thursday at the stage of the general session will be exceeded by clouds. Sameer Dholakia, who leads Cloud Platforms Group, will show why openness and interoperability are essential for cloud computing platforms - and why it's important for Citrix CloudStack moved to the Apache Software Foundation. Sameer will discuss the necessary ingredients to building successful cloud infrastructure that supports a wide range of services systems hosted in the company's operations in games. He will be joined on stage by a variety of industry luminaries, including cloud computing strategist Geva Perry, who will share surprising insights on the reasons for cloud adoption by enterprises, Indu Kodukula Sungard, and John Dillon Bill Platt of Engine Yard, Michael Crandall Rightscale day Nathan and SoftLayer.
Although this promises to be heady, provokes reflection on the future of cloud and mobility, let me assure you that Synergy will also provide advice on what you can be doing now to succeed in your career and how iT can be heroes to their users based on the approach they take to cloud computing and the consumerization of iT.
