Dutch Citrix User Group - DUCUG

On March 6, the Dutch Citrix User Group (DuCUG) organized the first meeting of 2015, the seventh overall. The event took place at Dell's headquarters in Amsterdam was held on behalf of our members, we hope Dell thank us have.

The event will be opened by the steering group chairman, Jon Jager , which started at our sponsors by thanking. Without them it is impossible to organize such an event for free.

The customer event was the first presentation of the day and was provided by Jits Langendijk entitled "Setting up a shared service center". In the presentation Jits walked us through the entire project, including all challenges and scope changes. The main takeaway was that is in such a project, the limiting factor in nature probably not technical.

Citrix SE, Ingmar Verheij was our second speaker, the public filings discuss during Citrix Summit made. Ingmar began with the acquisition of Octublu. the receiver X1 / X1 storefront were in detail, including a demonstration of the possibilities of this next version (in Tech Preview at this moment) mentioned next. Ingmar continue with the upcoming enhancements in XenApp / XenDesktop. Ingmar also touches on departmental stratification and Desktop Player for Windows. The session ended with announcements around Workspace POD and the corresponding acquisition of Sanbolic.

The third presentation was titled "Why do not we need Citrix Support (at All Times)", presented by Bas van Kaam . Bas started the steps of troubleshooting describes, followed by tips and tricks to solve problems. Next Bas further provided with explaining several tools such as Studio, Director, Scout and Insight Services Citrix to investigate the Citrix infrastructure.

After an excellent lunch, it was time for the first Build your. Private Session (CYOS) meeting

Robin Hobo presented the session "XenMobile. 10: What's New and How to Set-Up" This session , Robin began, mentioning the improvements and new possibilities of XenMobile 10. Continue with, he discusses the installation and configuration steps of the product. Robin also touched on the differences between XenMobile 9 and 10 , both at the level of infrastructure as a system administrator.

Our first foreign speaker of Jim Moyle (Citrix CTP) , was next with the presentation of "PVS Cache-to-disk-analysis with overflow into the RAM." , the session began with the available cache types and their properties mentioned. The focus was on Cache in Device RAM overflow to disk. Next, Jim discusses his performance test with Cache in Device RAM running with overflow on the hard disk. The results showed that the performance will be affected if PVS is to shed data on the hard disk when the power is less than has the disk directly. The cache type should be used when sufficient memory is available. Jim advises fast memory to be used if it is within the infrastructure.

The second session was CYOS of Bader el Khalifi . The presentation was entitled "PVS Made Simple." could be started Bader with the possibilities, established in the PVS simplistic. For some components Bader explained how he set those. As some were a bit controversial, started a good discussion during the presentation.

was the last presentation of the day by Helge Klein (Citrix CTP) with the presentation of "As Folder Redirection impact user experience and breaks applications." the presentation of the theory began to set on files and folders and ways to access the folder redirection. Helge continued his session with the test results to discuss. This was done by the actual user session is power, and the measurements in charts.

Geek Speak Live was the last session of the day. Barry Schiffer and Kees Baggerman , the Geek session on talk "Has all the Citrix product stack offer I Need?" Various techniques such as profile management, monitoring, hypervisor and storage discussed with the audience.

Networking is an important part of DuCUG event.
During closing, the participants drink the day discussing, exchanging the latest information and to each other.
